PN 582--Shared Responsibility: What the School Expects from Parents

Respected Parents,

Shared Responsibility: What the School Expects from Parents

At Sunrise English Private School, we believe that education is a partnership between the school and parents. To ensure the holistic development, safety, and wellbeing of every child, we kindly request parents to uphold the following responsibilities:

A. Punctuality & Attendance

  • Ensure that your child arrives punctually every day and is prepared for learning.
  • Avoid unnecessary absences and refrain from planning holidays during school working days.
  • Submit leave requests in advance, accompanied by supporting documents such as medical certificates where applicable.
  • Encourage regular attendance as it directly impacts learning progress and social development.

B. Discipline & Behaviour

  • Reinforce school rules at home, including dress code, respectful language, and appropriate behaviour.
  • Work in partnership with the school to address any behavioural concerns without excusing or justifying inappropriate conduct.
  • Support disciplinary measures taken by the school and avoid undermining teachers' authority in front of the child.
  • Encourage values such as respect, empathy, honesty, and responsibility in daily life.

C. Academic Support

  • Check and sign your child's diary, homework, and communication regularly.
  • Provide a conducive study environment at home with essential learning resources.
  • Supervise and monitor assignments, projects, and independent study—without completing the work on behalf of the child.
  • Encourage reading habits, critical thinking, and curiosity beyond the school curriculum.

D. Communication with the School

  • Use only official communication channels (school diary, email, school reception/office) for queries or concerns.
  • Refrain from circulating complaints, rumours, or unverified information on WhatsApp groups or social media.
  • Maintain courtesy and respect when interacting with teachers, staff, or school management.
  • Attend Parent–Teacher Meetings (PTMs), orientation sessions, and school events regularly.

E. Health & Safety

  • Do not send your child to school when unwell or contagious.
  • Inform the school in writing about any medical conditions, allergies, or special needs.
  • Provide nutritious meals/snacks and encourage healthy eating habits.
  • Ensure personal hygiene (trimmed nails, neat uniform, proper grooming).
  • Reinforce safety practices such as road safety, appropriate behaviour on school buses, and safe use of digital devices.

F. Balanced Expectations

  • Recognise that every child develops at their own pace; avoid comparisons with peers.
  • Encourage a balance between academics, sports, arts, and other co-curricular activities.
  • Avoid undue pressure on the child to achieve beyond their capacity.
  • Trust and respect the professional judgment, feedback, and guidance of teachers.

G. Positive Reinforcement

  • Motivate your child to take responsibility for their learning, behaviour, and belongings.
  • Praise effort, perseverance, and improvement—not only final results.
  • Encourage respectful communication, problem-solving, and independent decision-making.

H. School Property & Resources

  • Teach your child to respect school property including classrooms, books, furniture, labs, library, ICT resources, and playgrounds.
  • Accept responsibility for any willful damage caused by the child and ensure repair or replacement.
  • Encourage careful and responsible use of digital resources provided by the school.

I. Responsible Use of Technology & Social Media

  • Monitor your child's use of digital devices and ensure safe, age-appropriate online practices.
  • Discourage excessive screen time and encourage productive digital learning.
  • Refrain from posting negative or defamatory remarks about the school, staff, or students on social media.
  • Support the school's initiatives on digital citizenship and online safety.
  • Bullying, harassment, or sharing inappropriate content about peers or staff through WhatsApp, social media, or any digital platform is strictly prohibited. Any concerns or incidents related to this will be reported directly in accordance with UAE laws and ADEK regulations.
