IT MARATHON COMPETITION

Respected Parents,

                             The IT Marathon is an annual competition for school students throughout the UAE, organized by the College of Information Technology (CIT) at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). It brings together more than 500 students from all over the country each year to participate in for different IT competitions, with the aim of discovering and the promotion of the field of information technology under the title: "Internet things for a better future" on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the University of the United Arab Emirates.

               This team-based activity provides the opportunity for school students to showcase their IT skills to peers, university students, academics and industry experts. The IT Marathon consists of five categories: 

IT Contest, IT Showcase, IT-4Kids and IT-4Kids "Smart World" and IT Special Needs.

 

The first two competitions are team-based where each team consists of three students, while others are individual.

IT Contest (for grade 9 -12 students)

IT contest challenges general IT skills of participating students in Web design, programming, hardware, and graphics.

IT Showcase (for grade 10 -12 students)

The objective of this showcase is to provide a venue for young innovators to demonstrate their creative ideas in both software and hardware areas of the vibrant IT knowledge field.

 

IT4Kids "Smart World"- (for grade 3 - 9 students)

 In this competition students are asked to show their creativity in proposing a new idea on the topic "My dream mobile app that doesn't exist". This competition will challenge their imaginative power in bringing their dream application closer to the World. Implementation of the application is not required.

IT4Kids (for grade 3 - 9 students)

In this competition students are asked to develop Games, which inject their own imagination, rules, and heroic characters. By self-studying and investigation, develop own programs and games using one of the following software tools: 

·      The visual programming language, called Scratch, or

·      The Microsoft online programming environment, called TouchDevelop.

 IT4 Special Needs,

IT4 Special Needs offers the opportunities to show the ability of students with special needs to contribute to the IT field with new ideas, software tools, IT equipment, etc. Two categories of participation are offered:

1. IT Showcase 4SpecialNeeds (grades 5-12)

2. IT4SpecialNeeds Kids. ( grades 1-6)

 

If your ward is interested in participating in any of the above said competition, kindly let us know through the attached acknowledgement.

 

The last date to submit the acknowledgement is 27/02/2020. The selection round will take place in the school.
