PN 317--Neighborhood Recycling Project-Grade 5 to 12

Students and Parents,

                                 Greetings from Emirates Environmental Group!

Children are the future of the planet and the critical agents of change, who are more willing for honest commitments for a healthier planet.  Educating children about the importance of environmental conservation will help ensure the long-term health of our planet for generations to come. Through EEG's various environmental programs we try to involve all sectors of the community to come and participate in our sustainable movement. We are all responsible here to look after the well-being of our only planet.

As children and youth in summer seasons may have fewer opportunities to engage in nature-based (outdoor) activities, Emirates Environmental Group has rolled out the Neighbourhood Recycling Project (NRP), which engages students to participate in recycling activities during their summer school break. NRP was first launched in 2010 and has been running successfully since then. The Neighbourhood Recycling Project motivates students to communicate to their neighbouring families the need of the hour to recycle wastes, and engage everyone in creating widespread impact, while instilling a sense of social responsibility in them.

Last year, through our active participation of our student members and non-members, we were able to mitigate 91MTCO2eq of GreenHouse Gas Emissions and the project led to saving of 644 million BTU of energy, 155  m3 of landfill space, 1,339 gallons of Gasoline and 630 trees. Every effort of our community counts towards a better planet and habitable space for our future generations.

We are launching the 13th cycle for the project, the "Neighbourhood Recycling Project 2023", till 30th September 2023.

The project's objectives are as follows:

· Develop students' oratory, organisational and perseverance capabilities by contacting 20 neighbouring families.

·  Help spread the conservation and preservation message.

· Create flyers to help build student's artistic capacity.

If the students meet the predetermined recycling goals, the following results will occur:

· Student participants will receive a Certificate of Participation

· Student participants will be able to plant native trees in their names on 23.12.2023

We would like to kindly request you to circulate the invite among the students of your prestigious academic institution as their participation will have a big impact and they will be greatly contributing to a greener, healthier, and better environment.

Please find the attached flyer and the rules and regulations for the project. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are in doubt.

Please note that the project is exclusively open for participation by individual students only and not by the entire school collectively.
