Schools have a unique role to play in educating students and eliminating the stigma around Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) for future generations. The Reach School Campaign in cooperation with Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) and Rivoli, will launch on the 1st of June and end on the 25th of June. The campaign goal is to empower the UAE community to contribute as little as two dirhams to end River Blindness and Lymphatic Filariasis and save millions of people in the world's poorest countries.
The Reach School Campaign is focused on three elements: Learn, Give and Act.
LEARN: The school will educate students on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), their impact on society, and what can be done to combat them.
GIVE: The goal is to empower students and the UAE community to contribute as little as 2 AED to the cause. The school that raises the most funds will be recognized and rewarded. A donation drive will be organized subject to Emirates Red Crescent and DCD approval.
ACT: To encourage physical activity and to raise funds, students from participating schools are encouraged to join the 'Stepping for A Change' challenge starting on 1st June for 25 days. The school with the highest average step count will be recognized by the Reach campaign for its contribution.
Students can get started by following the below steps:
1. Download the STEPPI app available on Apple Store, Play Store, or Huawei Store.
2. Create an individual account and click the banner titled "Stepping for change" and enter a unique school code (enter the code CHANGE in capital letters).
3. Students can pair their device with an existing wearable device or smartphone.
4. All schools will be listed as groups for their respective students to join and tracking of steps will be showcased per school on various leaderboards.
