The ban on the use of single-use plastic bags was announced on April 6, as part of the implementation of the integrated policy for single-use plastics launched by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi in 2020.

The plastics which have no reusability, and which do not actually get recycled should be considered as single use plastic.  For example plastic bags, straws, coffee stirrers, soda and water bottles and most food packaging. They, are used only once before they are thrown away or recycled

 The Impact of Plastic Waste Disposal on Soil and Water Quality at Dumpsites" had found that dumping of plastic waste can deteriorate soil and underground water quality due to leaching of additives, colorants, stabilizers and fillers present in the different categories of plastic products

Today, not casually picking up a bag at the end of a shop might feel like a small sacrifice to the individual customer. But the wider implications and messaging of that happening en masse is a moment of great importance in the UAE's efforts to preserve the environment.

To support the UAE government, we request the whole Sunrise Family (Teachers, Students and office staff) to stop using plastic Bags inside the school campus from May 20,2024. All the Students,teachers parents and office staff members are strictly instructed not to carry any plastic bags.
