PN.575--Art in Mangroves Competition


Respected Parents and Students,

                   We are excited to announce that the Arts Department of Sunrise English Private School is organising an Art Competition for students from Grade 1 to Grade 9 under the theme "The Wonders and Secrets of the Mangrove World." This competition aims to encourage creativity, imagination, and the artistic talents of our students. We strongly encourage all students to participate and showcase their abilities.

Participation Categories and Themes

 

Cycle 1 (Grades 1-4): Drawing and Painting

 

Topic: The wonders and secrets of the mangrove world

Mangroves are wonderful trees that grow near our seas and beaches. How do you imagine our environment depends on mangroves? What benefits do fish, crabs, and other species get from mangroves?

Cycle 2 (Grades 5-9): Sculptures and prototypes: Build a model using sustainable/recycled materials to:

Topic: The wonders and secrets of the mangrove world

Mangroves, with their intricate root systems and unique adaptation to saline environments, are critical components of coastal ecosystems. They play a vital role in mitigating climate change by sequestering carbon and acting as a natural defense against rising sea levels and storm surges.
Explore the remarkable world of mangroves with your creativity, showing a deeper understanding of mangrove conservation and its role in building coastal resilience.

Students in Cycle 2 may pick one of the following options for submission:

1. Represent our mangroves diverse ecosystem.

2. Storytelling through mangroves, show the different elements of the mangroves ecosystem, how theyinteract, and how mangroves defend our costs against rising sea levels, storms, erosions and floods

3. Design a "Mangrove Defender" invention! It could be a tool for planting, cleaning pollution, or monitoring mangrove health.

Submission Instructions
Submissions should be made to the respective Art teachers. Please ensure the student's name, class, and section is written on the back of the artwork in block letters with pencil. Do not write long messages on the artwork, as this will result in negative marking.

Judging Criteria
Artwork will be evaluated based on:

• Creativity and innovation
• Effective use of sustainable materials (for sculptures only)
• Adherence to the theme
• Novelty and new ideas
• Environmental message conveyed
• Quality of the artwork

Dimensions: All submitted art pieces cannot exceed 1 meter in length and 1 meter in width.
Materials: All art must use sustainable, non-toxic, and preferably recycled materials.
Artistic Enhancements: Embellishments such as crystals, reflective materials, ribbons, and adhesives are permitted as long as they are used for enhancements only.
Colour Diversity: Different colours may be used to express creativity.
Material Processing: Creative melting, mixing, or blending of materials during the artistic process is allowed.
