The National Science, Technology and Innovation (NSTI) Festival


Respected Parents,
                                 Greetings! To keep in line with the expectations of the UAE's overall vision, the Ministry of Education is pleased to announce the following:-

The National Science, Technology and Innovation (NSTI) Festival (31 January - 04 February 2019)

 

 The festival includes the following main competitions:

1. First Competition:   The Science Fair  (Grade 5-12 students)

2. Second Competition: 'My Idea' (Fikrati)(Grade 3 & Grade 4 students)

 

The Science Fair

 Science Fair Categories 

Participation at the Science Fair is available for the following two categories:

1. Category 1: Students in grade 5 to 8

2.  Category 2: Students in grades 9 to12

 

The Science Fair is a platform where students can present the research outcomes of their scientific project and showcase the scientific methodology behind it. A specialized committee will evaluate the innovative scientific research projects, according to a certain criteria, to identify the winners.

 

Participation is available within the following four main areas:

A. Technology

 

This includes e.g. communications, electronic systems, robotics, computing, control technology, applications of technology, biotechnology, or automation.

 

B. Biological & Ecological Sciences

 

These include: agriculture, anatomy, biochemistry, biotechnology, ecology, horticulture, physiology, medical science, or veterinary science.

 

C. Social & Behavioural Sciences

 

These include: economic, geographical, psychological or sociological studies of human behaviour, nutrition, social anthropology, or political science.

 

D. Chemical, Physical & Mathematical Sciences

 

These include: chemistry, physics, mathematics, applied mathematics, geology, engineering, computer programming, meteorology, or astronomy.

 

Science Fair Participation Rules

1. Projects displayed in previous NSTI Science Fair or Think Science Competition are NOT allowed.

2. Participation is open for students in grades 5 to 12 in government, private, and vocational schools.

3. Students can participate in individual projects or group projects (a maximum of three students per group)

4. A student may only enter one project into the competition, whether they are entering as an individual or as part of a group.

 

Students those who are interested can form a team and submit their project proposal to the following in charges latest by 8/11/2018

2. "Fikrati" (My Idea)

"Fikrati" (my idea) gives young elementary students (grade 3 and grade 4) the opportunity to present their innovative ideas to qualified specialists in a friendly competitive environment. The students will be evaluated based on the originality of the idea, level of innovation, feasibility of its application, expected value added and much more.

The students with the most innovative and feasible idea will receive a participation certificate and a prize. The idea behind this competition is to encourage and motivate students to present and discuss their ideas confidently in front of others and become role models to other students. The competition will also help attract the bright little students who are curious in sciences with innovative ideas and promote their personal development.

 

Participation Rules

1. Ideas presented in previous NSTI Fikrati competition are NOT allowed.

2. Participation is open for students in grade 3 and grade 4 in government and private schools.

3. Students must participate in individual projects

4. Qualified students and supervisors must be committed to the allocated date/time of presenting.

5. The original idea must be suggested by the student, not by the teacher or the parents.
