In our continuous effort to ensure the holistic development, safety, and security of our students, we are reaching out to emphasise the crucial role of regular school attendance. Not only does consistent attendance contribute to academic success, but it also plays a vital role in maintaining the safety and well-being of each student within the school community. Recent observations have shown that some students are frequently absent without any prior notification to the school. To address this and support every child's educational journey, we are implementing an automated attendance notification system for unexcused absences, closely monitored by the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).
Key Points of the Attendance Notification System:
1. Initial Absence Notifications: For students with 3, 6, or 8 days of unexcused absence, notifications will be sent to parents highlighting the importance of attending school regularly. These messages are intended as a reminder of the impact that missing school can have on a child's academic progress and emphasize the need for consistent attendance.
2. Referral to ADEK: Should unexcused absences reach 11-14 or 15-17 days; parents will receive notification that their child has been referred to ADEK for additional monitoring. This step is taken to ensure that students with continued absences receive focused attention and necessary support to improve attendance. Further actions may follow if the absenteeism continues.
3. Notification of Further Action: At 18-19 days of unexcused absence, parents will be notified that further action is being considered. This communication serves as a final reminder of the consequences of unexcused absences and is intended to underscore the seriousness of consistent school attendance.
4. Consequences and Final Action: If a student reaches 20 or more days of unexcused absence, a formal notification will be sent to inform parents that ADEK may take decisive action to address this prolonged absenteeism. This final measure is implemented only after multiple warnings and is aimed at ensuring compliance with attendance policies.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Daily Absence Notifications: The school will continue to send direct notifications on a daily basis if a student is absent or late. These messages are managed by the school and are intended to keep parents updated on day-to-day attendance.
• ADEK Notifications: The notifications sent by ADEK, separate from the school's daily communication, serve as formal reminders regarding persistent unexcused absences. They reflect ADEK's involvement in ensuring each student's attendance and compliance with established policies.
