The "iOS Design Challenge " is an initiative created by Sandooq Al Watan in partnership with Apple Professional Learning Specialists and will implement it in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
The Initiative aims to promote and develop the skills of the next generation of smart application developers in the UAE. The Initiative also aims to prepare a generation of young people capable of participating in facing the environmental challenges the world is facing today by taking advantage of Apple's unique technologies in developing smart applications that do not require the use of Apple devices and is open to all platforms. The participating students in this challenge will gain many skills including collaboration, communication & team work, critical thinking, entrepreneurship, cognitive flexibility, digital fluency, computational thinking & logic, project management, coding principles, and UX/UI design. The participation in the "iOS Design Challenge" doesn't require coding experience.
Conditions for participation:
❖ The student age is in the age group 13-18 years (13 years as in August 2024)-Grade 8 to 12.
❖ Participation is allowed as an individual or team of maximum 4 students.
❖ It is required to design an application prototype in line with this year's theme which is "Sustainability".
All participants will receive digital certificates.The winners will receive:
· 180 hours of coding instruction and project work
· A new Mac
· Mentoring (through online and in-person sessions)
· Design and Coding Resources
· Special guest sessions
· Apple Pro-Level Certification
· The opportunity to publish your App on the App Store
Once the students enroll, they will receive all the resources they need through a special learning platform. The access will be sent to the student after registration.
The students will be submitting a series of tasks (20hrs of work), finally they will need to submit a working app prototype on Figma and a pitch video.
