Parents, Why Handwriting Competition Handwriting reinforces our reading and language processing skills. Writing by hand allows time to slow down the thought process enabling the writer to think about the words, how they are spelt and the structure of the writing; all making the writer more adept at the language they are using. Improving children's penmanship, legibility, pencil grasp, and working on problem areas are all important things that need to be addressed—especially in the digital age when most of our written communication is done through texting on mobile devices or typing on a keyboard. A quote with 30 words (C1 Category) and a paragraph of around 150-200 words(C2 to C4 Category),would be given to students to rewrite. General Guidelines for the Competition: - Read, Write, and submit the quote/paragraph.
- Please do not add additional material/matter within your entry.
- Use any of the following writing instruments: Ballpoint pen, fountain pen, felt/fiber, or tip marker.
- Use the same writing instrument throughout the entry.
- Please use only black/blue ink to write and white or light-colored paper without any print/pictures/decorations.
- The written quote/paragraph must fit on the front side of the paper.
- Do not make visible erasures cross-outs/cover- ups/whiting out.
- Do not use calligraphic instruments.
- 30-45 minutes would be given to complete the quote/paragraph.
Criteria for Judgement: - Legibility -How easily we can read the handwriting
- Flow -The smoothness, grace, and flow of the writing
- Competence -The choice of layout and margins; spacing between letters, words, and lines; consistency of letter size and forms; accuracy of the quote; neatness and general appearance; spelling.
Grade 1 to grade 8- Handwriting Competition. - Competition will start by 7.40 am.
- Paragraph sheet and writing sheet will be distributed in respective classes.
- All the students must copy the given paragraph from the paragraph sheet to the writing sheet.
- The writing sheets will be collected back by sharp 8.40 am.
- Winners will be announced after 2 weeks.
